Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular safari destinations, offering a great combination of wildlife, scenic landscapes, birdlife, and cultural experiences. Located in western Uganda, the park is known for its open savannah plains, crater lakes, forests, wetlands, and the famous Kazinga Channel.
A safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park gives you the opportunity to see a wide range of wildlife. Game drives across the Kasenyi Plains can bring you close to lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, warthogs, leopards, and several antelope species. The Ishasha sector in the southern part of the park is particularly famous for its tree-climbing lions, which can often be seen resting in the branches of large fig and acacia trees.
One of the best ways to explore the park is a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The waterway connects Lake Edward and Lake George and attracts large numbers of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and waterbirds. It is also an excellent opportunity for photography.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is a great destination for bird lovers, with hundreds of bird species found across its different habitats. Visitors can also enjoy chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge, nature walks, and community experiences around the park.
The park is conveniently located between Kibale National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, making it easy to include in a longer Uganda safari.
