Once your group finds the gorillas, you have one hour with them. During this time, you can watch their behaviour, take photographs where permitted and simply enjoy being close to these remarkable animals.

After the viewing time ends, your group leaves the gorillas and starts the journey back.

Can You Do Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda in One Day?
Technically, it is possible to arrange a very short gorilla trekking trip from Kigali, but it is not the option I would recommend for most international travellers.
The journey between Kigali and the Volcanoes region takes around three hours each way. Adding that road journey to an early-morning trek can make for an extremely long day.
Staying near Volcanoes National Park the night before your trek is much more comfortable. You can sleep properly, wake up early and arrive at the park headquarters without worrying about a long morning drive.
If you have more time, adding an extra day or two also allows you to enjoy more of Rwanda rather than making the entire trip about rushing to the gorillas and back.
What About a Longer Rwanda Gorilla Safari?
If you have a week or more available, there is no need to stop after the gorilla trek.
You can combine gorilla trekking with Kigali sightseeing, golden monkey tracking, cultural experiences, hiking and other wildlife destinations in Rwanda.

What Is the Best Number of Days?
