Nyungwe National Park | Go To Africa Safaris

Nyungwe National Park is one of Rwanda’s most beautiful natural destinations and an excellent place for travelers interested in rainforest, primates, birds, and nature. Located in southwestern Rwanda, the park protects one of Africa’s oldest montane rainforests and is home to a wide variety of plants and wildlife.

Chimpanzee trekking is one of the main attractions in Nyungwe National Park. Visitors enter the forest with experienced guides to search for habituated chimpanzee communities. The trek can be exciting as the chimpanzees move through the trees, calling, feeding, and interacting with one another.

The park is also home to several other primate species, including colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and blue monkeys. Bird watchers will find plenty to explore, with many forest species and Albertine Rift endemics recorded in the park.

One of the highlights of visiting Nyungwe is the canopy walkway. Suspended high above the forest floor, the walkway provides beautiful views across the rainforest and offers a different perspective of the park. It is an excellent experience for photography and nature lovers.

Visitors can also enjoy forest walks, waterfalls, bird watching, and cultural experiences in nearby communities. Nyungwe can be combined with other Rwanda destinations, including Volcanoes National Park, Akagera National Park, and Kigali.

Go To Africa Safaris can arrange tailor-made Nyungwe National Park tours including chimpanzee trekking, canopy walks, accommodation, transportation, and experienced local guides.
