Sipi Falls is one of those places in Uganda where the journey is almost as enjoyable as the destination. Found on the slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda, Sipi is made up of three waterfalls dropping over the mountainside, surrounded by green hills, coffee farms, small villages, and beautiful views across the countryside.

Sipi Falls is also closely connected to Uganda’s coffee-growing culture. The surrounding area is famous for Arabica coffee, and visitors can visit local farms to learn how coffee is grown, picked, washed, dried, roasted, and prepared. Meeting the farmers and tasting locally produced coffee can be just as memorable as seeing the waterfalls.
For travelers looking for more adventure, abseiling down the main waterfall is one of the experiences available in the area. You can also enjoy nature walks, bird watching, cultural visits, and cycling around the surrounding countryside.
Sipi Falls works well as part of a trip to Mount Elgon National Park, but it can also be visited on its own. Whether you want a few days of hiking and adventure or simply want somewhere peaceful with beautiful scenery, Sipi is a refreshing change from Uganda’s usual wildlife destinations.
